Information provided by subscribers will never be shared for any reason (unless required by law) or sold to a third party. The Log Book is required to follow strict security procedures to ensure that stored information is not accessible by unauthorised persons by the Data Protection Act 1988 and 2003 (Republic of Ireland).
When an order is placed online for a subscription, The Log Book will need to know the name, postal address, and e-mail address of the subscriber. The card payment processor used by The Log Book will require credit card details including the card number, expiry date, the name of the cardholder, and the cardholder's address. This will allow payment of the subscription ordered, and ensure that it is delivered to the correct address.
The e-mail address provided by the subscriber may be used to send a subscription renewal form, prior to the expiry of a current subscription. It may also be used to send a maximum of two reminders with regard to the status of the subscription, on or near the publication dates of the two issues of The Log Book that are published immediately following the expiry of the subscription.
To make a payment the subscriber will be transferred to a secure site, which will process the card payment. At no time will The Log Book have access to card details for online payments, and no credit card details are stored by The Log Book in any form.
The Log Book may disclose aggregate statistics pertaining to the number of visitors to its website. Individual subscribers will not be identified personally in any of these statistics.
